Rimini and Rome
My holiday was, in a way, a bit of a workation. I'd brought a lot of work with me to Italy, so during the day I mostly worked, and in the evening I went out into town for some fun. I simply love Italy — nowhere else do I feel quite as good. This time I chose the four-star Hotel Continental for accommodation, along with full board. I have to say it was a great choice, because the food at the hotel is genuinely excellent, and I got to try dishes I probably wouldn't have ordered otherwise. It's almost hard to believe, but during my entire stay in Rimini I didn't have a single pizza. The hotel has a private beach, and from my balcony I had a view straight out over the sea. Hotel Continental sits right on the Viale Vespucci promenade in the prestigious Marina Centro district, just steps from the beach and Rimini's city center. It has 116 rooms with balconies, a swimming pool, its own stretch of beach, and a restaurant overlooking the sea serving Mediterranean and local specialties. The historic center and train station are about a ten-minute walk away, and Federico Fellini Airport is roughly a fifteen-minute drive. Tomorrow I'm leaving the seaside resort and heading to Rome. It's not for nothing that they say all roads lead to Rome. In this case, the road leads through Bologna, where I've left myself three hours between train connections to have a look around the city before catching the high-speed train. Unfortunately, I probably won't have time for the gelato museum, which I'm quite sad about — but that's a whole-day visit, and I'm really looking forward to it. Luckily, this isn't my last time in Italy.
